One of four tram trailers built by Boon and Co for the Christchurch Tramway Board as open sided trailers seating 65 - numbers 116 - 119. Convertable aluminium sides and windows were added.
Seating was reduced to 44 passengers following the passing of the Centre Aisle regulation in 1913 & the enlargement of the end platforms.
Later a second series of dreadnaught trailers were built - 120 - 123 (in 19??), and these had the centre aisles and convertable aluminium sides and windows from day 1.
In the later years, the convertable aluminium side and wndows were left permanently in place.
These trailers ran in internal bearing bogies (trucks) built locally in Christchurch. |
