MEETINGS AND WORK PARTIES

Normally, the Society has a work party every Monday evening from 7:30pm in the Tram Barn (excluding public holidays). There are also regular work parties on Sarturdays.

The Society tries to organise a regular Social Event – normally on the evening of the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Some of these events are held in conjunction with other Societies at Ferrymead. To view future, planned events, please click here.

Event Weekends

In conjunction with Ferrymead Heritage Park, a number of weekends are considered to be special event weekends with a particular theme, and during these weekends, additional Society activities are likely to occur.
Normal Event Weekends include:

  • Easter, Queen’s Birthday, and Labour Weekend – Sundays and Mondays – are normally special weekends with a particular theme. Additional activities will occur at Ferrymead Heritage Park, and the Tramway Historical Society will normally have multiple trams, the steam tram and trailers all concurrently in service.
  • First Sunday of each month. The society tries to have the Kitson Steam Tram and Trolley Buses running. The Canterbury Railway Society normally also has a Steam train running.
  • Summer Times – all Sundays in January. The society tries to have the Kitson Steam Tram running. The Canterbury Railway Society normally also has a Steam train running.
